Teddy is still hanging out with us at the Dog Ranch. He has really come a long way in the six weeks that we've had him. In addition to showing no signs of aggression with his food bowl he has learned a few of the basics as well.
He now sits, downs and can wait/stay on cue. He has become less impulsive about jumping on and mouthing people. We can now wipe his feet, brush him and pet him without him bucking, spinning and mouthing our hands.
He sits or downs to get out of his pod, sits at the doors and no longer barges his way through openings. He sits nicely while I prepare his food and when attended he no longer cruises the counters looking for things to eat or gets into the trash.
When Teddy first arrived he would play by himself with a ball. He didn't understand that humans were great to play with. He has learned that people are important and are really good at throwing balls. He has become a super star when it comes to retrieving and delivers the ball to your feet now.
And it looks like he has a new home! If all goes well he will be off to Bozeman this Saturday to start his new life as a house dog complete with a back yard pond. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Sarah, I can't thank you enough. He's a real delight.
ReplyDeleteHis ride home was great. When he needed to stop, he let us know in no uncertain terms, and he slept most of the way home. Of course that made him a real handful last night ...
His meeting with Smokey (the other dog) has gone well. She's letting Teddy know that there are rules and he needs to learn them. The cats will take a little longer, but we'll get there. He's shown remarkable improvement in the relaxing and accepting areas even in the day we've had him. And he's a real charmer for sure.
Again, Thank you. And I'll keep you posted on his progress.
